Early this year, on March 7th, I lost my favorite Storyteller… My Grandfather.
We lost him 2 months shy of his 99th birthday, and with his amazing memory,
he had countless stories to share. Stories that were random, enlightening,
and always hilarious. 😆 Always.
He will always be an inspiration, and hero to me, for so many reasons.
I am grateful I inherited his love of interacting with all kinds of people,
his love of photography,
and of course his love of telling stories.
So it just seems appropriate to honor him here!
I think one of the rewards of a long life is enjoying telling the tale of it! He certainly did!
What makes a great storyteller?
Being authentic and engaging. Inspiring listeners to relate personally.
Painting vivid verbal pictures so those who hear it feel like they are there.
Resonating emotionally. Incorporating humor, drama, or inspiration effortlessly.
Use just the right narrative pace and timing,
so listeners catch every important word and moment.
The best storytellers connect with their audience,
presenting universal truths or wise insights that leave a lasting impression.
My Grandfather did all of that naturally and with a smile.
I wish I could hear more of his stories now, but I am grateful for how long we had him with us.
