I recently found some pre-production videos for the hidden object puzzle adventure (HOPA) game Dreampath: Curse of the Swamps. In it, I’m the voice of Princess Daniela. These behind-the-scenes videos showcase the animated storyboards and voiceover work together, highlighting an essential part of the game development process. It’s cool when I get to see this stage of process because I love seeing how all the creative pieces come together.
The Video Game Voice Acting Process
As a video game voice actor, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how animations and voiceovers come together to tell a story is exciting. Remote recording can sometimes skip this stage, so these videos were a great find! Recording sessions for some video games happen remotely, with actors working in isolation. I recorded my scenes for Princess Daniela solo so it’s great to hear the full cast.
This behind-the-scenes peek demonstrates the value professional voice talent brings to video games. The emotional connection and empathy players feel for characters like Princess Daniela comes from the seamless integration of visuals and performance.
