Yay! It’s Jaya’s Birthday!!!
Jaya is the ambitious, dog-loving, quick-thinking character from the animated web series Emojitown that I am proud to have voiced!
I heart her determination and ingenuity so much! 💛 Yassss Girl!
Emojitown is a unique series based on the emoji® brand. All of the young characters in the show are so relatable, even while facing some hilariously absurd situations. I also love that the series has global appeal since these characters don’t speak any particular language to get their message across. This series has no traditional word dialogue which fits perfectly with the Emoji concept.
Recording efforts and improvising sounds for thoughts, expressions, and actions for this was a welcomed challenge, and thanks to the always awesome team at Pepsqually that challenge was met, exceeded, and a lot of fun!
The characters in Emojitown authentically represent different ethnicities, genders, abilities, and sexuality as diverse and representative as real life. As a Black Female Voice Actor, I appreciate being able to represent a cool character like Jaya!
Emojitown®, where life is animated, but the struggles are real, is a digital-first series targeting teen and young adult audiences who use emojis the most and binge social media content. It is produced by GmbH, one of the worldwide owners of “emojis” together with WildBrain, a company specializing in entertainment for children and families.
